About Us
McGowan Quality Constructions
McGowan Quality Constructions began with Jim McGowan, a local Builder in Millmeran QLD who had four sons. In the 1940s the four brothers, all Carpenters, built a number of homes in rural QLD before one set off for a new challenge.
In 1966 Noel McGowan better known as Nap, moved to Marion St Tugun for a coastal sea change, along with his wife, daughter, and three sons, who without surprise all went on to be Carpenters.
In 1985 Nap's youngest sons, John & Tony took over the family business and continued to build most of the Tugun & Bilinga beach shacks still standing today. John estimates he and Tony built over one hundred houses in Tugun and Currumbin alone but completed a number of jobs in Nerang, Mudgreeba, Robina, Palm Beach and more. John completed a number of duplex developments for his family where he and wife Candy had three children, two sons, who can you guess... both went on to complete carpentry apprenticeships under John & Tony.
Fast forward to present day, Nick is now running the family business, continuing to build on the Southern Gold Coast. In a full circle moment, Nick purchased his home in Marion St Tugun, an old brick house that his grandfather built in 1969.
Nick's interests lie in new builds and commercial large scale projects such as recent Eco View Retreat and the world famous Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat.
To this day you will still find old rafters in Tugun with the McGowan name on them which serves as a warm reminder of the journey and many McGowan men that have contributed to the Southern Gold Coast construction industry.
